The recent struggles between teachers and the government have left students out in the cold. Who isn' t under intense pressure these days in life, especially for those who are underperforming? Children of accountants also want their parents to spend more time with them -- this is just a fact of modern life. Why should teachers be favored? Education holds a special place in every society, especially in Chinese culture. However, we must remember that the student is the center of this importance we put on education, not the teachers. It is a terrible role model for teachers to put up as the biggest, loudest and most unreasonable and selfish cry baby around. While the teachers union has been criticizing the reform, incredibly they have been unable to provide any alternatives except to say, give us less work, give us "small class instruction" (despite many research showing that does not automatically relate to better education) and more jobs. Imperfect as the current educational reforms are, the actions of the teachers can hardly be condoned.

myth: stress is good, low-stress is bad; busy is good, leisure is bad. Not when you want to learn.

i have a child; i want him to be taught by teachers who have time to think, have time to observe, and not treat my child as a nut on the assembly line, instead of a human being.
i want teachers who are not so stressed that they cannot smile and enjoy class.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one ...
